What is the 1040 DT?
The Form 1040 DT is a 100% grass roots effort to shine a light on Donald Trump's broken promise to release his taxes (No astro-turf movement here, Spicey!). The idea is simple: bury Trump Tower and the Mar-a-Lago Club in DJT's “alternative” tax returns on tax day April 15th.
Think about it. If Trump Tower and Trump's “Summer Whitehouse” receive 5,000, 50,000, 500,000 or 5,000,000 pieces of mail on April 15th - a veritable avalanche of envelopes – we give the press a big giant hook to hang a great story on all while sending the message (literally) that, yes, Americans do care about what's in Trump's tax returns.
Hmm. Why should I participate?
Why shouldn't you? For only 98 cents you can protest from the comfort of your own home! No signs to make. No hats to knit. This is so damn easy even lazy people can do it. Also, it's fun!
Okay, you've got me. What do I do?
It's simple, if you've got 3 minutes and want a chuckle (and to boil your blood a bit) click here and help Donald complete his Form 1040 DT. Don't have 3 minutes but still want to help out? Just print the return. Don't have a printer? It doesn't matter. You can send anything (a request for an autographed publicity still from the Apprentice or an alternative homemade tax return of your own design) as long as you send envelopes to Trump Tower and Mar-a-lago. (You can find the addresses at the bottom of this page.) It's all about the quantity of mail Donald receives not what's in the envelopes. We built this site with the hope that once amused, you'll act but don't feel like you need to click through the form to participate. Share, "Like," Tweet and talk it up. Want to do more? Send more than 1 copy each to Trump Tower and Mar-a-Lago. There is no limit (except those imposed by your stamp and envelope budgets) to the number of Form 1040 DTs that you can submit or who can submit them. Get the kids to illustrate the envelopes or create their own "alternative" tax returns with messages to the president. What a great introduction to civil disobedience!
